My MacBook Pro Screen is stuck at grey

Hello, my Macbook Pro is a Mid 2012 13". The screen is stuck in "grey" though it can connect to my wifi and can charge my phone. The laptop was put on sleep mode for awhile and when I turned it back on, that's what happened. I already tried all those resets. None worked. :(

Update (08/07/2016)

Do you have a way to connect an external display to your system? If not do you have access to a second Mac with you could access your system using Target Mode?

Hi Dan, I have some extras laptop - is that what you meant by an external display? I have an extra Dell laptop.

Sorry that won't work.

Do you have a TV with a HDMI port? If you can get an adapter like this: BestBuy - Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable

Or, if you have a standalone PC monitor you could use this: BestBuy - Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

Hi Dan, Yes, we do have a TV with a HDMI Port. I'll buy one that I need.

I have another problem with the laptop, when I brought the system home after I brought it in for the repair where I had my laptop fixed by a technician, now the problem is the laptop just keeps on beeping when I turn it on and it won't get farther than that. I guess he did something with the RAM. :/ It's really annoying because it's like a malfunction after the other. :/

Hi Dan! I'm here again. Lol. Anyway,my laptop went back to this problem. I am now connecting it through HDMI on our TV. From here, what do I do? Thank you!

I hope he didn't charge you for breaking your system! ;-{

It might be the memory module is not fully seated. Have you ever opened your system before? If you've careful you could try reseating them modules. Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 RAM Replacement. If reseating the modules doesn't help you'll need to try using one module at a time to see which slot (or module) is damaged.

Grems,

When you start up the computer, hold down the "D" key, that should start it into an Apple hardware Test mode. If that finds an issue, let us know!

I'd also be interested to see if it's seeing any type of Hard disk or if the issue is with the display. When you boot, can you hold the option key down and see if you get any options?

From here, it's possible that your display pins may have come undone or other logic board issues. Let us know once you've tried those things!

Hi Stephen,

I'll try that once I figured out this beep sound that my laptop has been making when I turn it on. I'll let you know. Thanks!
