Mid 2010 MacBook Pro only boots up SOMETIMES.

I have a macbook that only only boots up occasionally. When it does boot up it works perfectly until you shut it off, and other times it is completely dead. No fans spinning no hd or optical drive sounds. It doesn't even beep when I remove ram and try to boot up. Im pretty sure it's the logic board. I want to get an idea of what is possibly causing this issue. I don't think it's the DC-in board because it charges and the light is amber/green depending on the battery level. Maybe there is a short on the board somewhere? Possibly ppbus g3h? It does work on occasion so I'm not sure if something might be sent to the wrong the place only sometimes.

Juliana, I don't believe it's a board issue you're experiencing. Based on you saying that it boots up sometimes and works perfectly fine, I can't imagine a board issue working perfectly and then only affecting the computer when you try to turn it back on. If someone brought a computer into my shop with that issue, the first thing I would try to replace is the battery. Batteries can cause weird issues with the logic board when they start to go bad. It's possible that it's a board issue, but the battery is more likely.

If a battery doesn't fix it, and you can solder yourself, repairing the board is definitely worth a shot. If you are looking to have someone else preform the repair for you, it may not be worth it monetarily to have that done. If the board really is starting to go bad, even if you fix this issue, it'll start having more in the future that you'll have to deal with.

Ive replaced both the battery and the keyboard(i thought maybe a faulty power button) but it didnt fix anything. Ive also tried to turn it on with the power on pads but again it only works ocassionally. I just have no idea where to start trouble shooting the board of anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
