Rooting a ZTE Maven?

Hello all,

I can't seem to find anything to root my ZTE Maven. Kingo root sends IMEI and s/n to some weird Chinese server, and most other rooting applications aren't compatible. I'm not brave enough to manually root it either.

Please help!

P.S. The only reason I want to root is to remove all of the stupid AT&T bloatware.

There currently isn't any way to permanently root the AT&T version of the maven. There are a couple of developers involved at the xda forums, but the locked bootloader still is blocking a full root.

You can get temp root with kingo, but that's about it unfortunately.

For temp root take the following steps:

  • Step 1: Put your phone in FTM(Vol Down + Power) & run the latest kingoroot. Let it finish.
  • Step 2: reboot
  • Step 3: run kingoroot AGAIN & let it finish.
  • Step 4: uninstall kingoroot SU application.

I followed all of your steps. Step 1 resulted in a successful root but after reboot i didn't see a SU app but i continued on nonetheless. Step 3 resulted in root failing. Was I supposed to put it in FTM mode again? I don't know if ill get a notification so can you contact me if you do reply: pmayson43@gmail.com

kingo , king, and dr. fixit riot methods are scams. Adware (Malware) is installed on your newly unstable device. A method to enable #/System partition/folder Write access doesnt exist as far as I can see. Bootloader, Write-Permissions, PIE are all obstacles to gaining true "root access". With the Kingook method, the app installs a fake "rooted!" notification on the ZTE z831... Please let me know if Im wrong, I have one I want to de-bloat.

I have a ZTE maven too. I have used KingRoot (not kingoroot) to root my phone. Hope it works for you!
