Graphics Card Not Detected

hello all,i have a 2011 27 emc 2429 imac, the last month the gpu showed some problem like flashing screen, reverted images, and things like that,so i decided to replace the gpu an amd 6970 1gb with a new one amd 6970 2gb.

When i starts the mac the screen remains black and after few seconds fan runs at high speed,so i checked the led on the logic board and i saw that only the led 1 and 2 lights up ,while led 3 and 4 are always off also after the imac starts .

The problems seems that the gpu isn't detected ,anyone know wich component could be broken ?

(the gpu works on a pc and is correctly detected )

Update (05/10/2016)

ok,thanks,i think that i will sell the gpu and then i will buy a new one for mac, because i had also checked online but seems there isn't a guide or other for flash the card or bios

in the meantime i can in someway use my imac, i mean with the intel integrated graphics?

because at the moment with or without graphic card the lcd remains black and i'm a little worried that there is another problem

Check the GPU is compatible with macs, most hardware is not...

Is this a replacement GPU MXM II board? Apple uses its own firmware on them and only the boards Apple used for that given model can be used.

this is the exact replacement that i bought

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-AMD-M...

is always the same model but it's 2gb instead of 1gb

Sadly, this board won't work without flashing the ROM firmware on it to the Apple firmware.

I would recommend you return it and get the correct board. You need to find a real Apple board here is the Apple P/N: 661-5969 for the 2 GB board. The 661-5967 is the 512 MB version and the 661-5968 is the 1 GB version of the board. If you goggle the part number with Apple as the prefix you should be able to find it.

Unless you are doing something very heavy in graphics the 1 GB should be more than enough. I would focus on the systems RAM and adding in a SSD drive to gain better performance here than over focusing on the GPU's RAM.

Sorry, this model doesn't have intergraded graphics on the CPU. You'll need to wait until you have the correct MXM graphics board.

hi,thanks for the reply, the problem is that i can't return the board,so now i must sell it.

maybe could be possible change the firmware or i can only buy the correct board?

Sadly, I don't think you can flash the board you have at this point as you will need a working board to image the firmware from. Since you sold yours already you have no source to image from.

Sounds like your only option here is getting the correct part.

You mean you have the video that caused a class action law suit and resulted in this
