After Screen Replacement, Red battery Symbol, no Apple logo

Hello!

I just replaced my iPhone 4S's damaged screen. When I plugged in the cable to charge it, the iPhone displays the typical red battery symbol that it is not charged. I have been charging the iPhone for an entire hour now, and it is still not booted into iOS. I just unplugged the iPhone from charging, and it still displays the low battery sign for ~10 minutes or so on the screen. I have tried holding down the home and power button, but it just restarts the phone to the same screen.
