Microphone Issues When Calling

The microphone for speaking into the phone during a call is located at the bottom of your device where your mouth would be during a phone call. It is attached to your charge port. When you put it in speaker phone it switches to the mic at the top by your ear speaker. If the microphone attached to the chargeport is not working i would try cleaning out the holes by the bottom of your phone with some canned air and make sure the bottom is not obstructed, if that doesnt work you may want to try a settings reset, and than worse case a charge port replacement.

Is well. If I use the regular/normal telephone, then people hear a very quiet sound with clicks and distortion. I'm convinced this is a software issue as it occurred only after the latest 10.0.2 update. Tried all of the suggestions on this post and others. It's software and needs a fix!

i have iPhone 6 and i calling some one he can not hear me very well even i on the speaker.

I had the same issue. I looked into the earphone connection on my iPhone. It had a small piece of the input stuck in my iPhone

I had attached to my IPhone to my speakers attached the input into my phone not realizing a piece was stuck in there! I went in look to my speakers input noticing a piece missing yeah it was way stuck in my phone lol

It probably has a piece of input stuck in your iPhone, happened to me phone mic not working only on speaker. When I took the little piece of input that was stuck way up in my phone, it worked again!

I seems that I have similar issue but not quite.. All my mics are working (front, rear facing camera videos have great sound the bottom mic is also working - I am able to make normal Facetime, Skype, Viber calls... etc ) but when I initiate a regular voice call using the Phone app the caller on the other side can't hear me. It's the same with Speaker mode. My proximity sensor is working fine, my front facing camera is working fine, my rear facing camera is working fine... I have tried w and w/o Noise cancellation, Hearing aids, the apple headphones, iOS 10 beta 7, rolled back to 9.3.5/ hard reset/soft reset(Settings)/ nothing helps it's dead silence on the other side.

Is the Audio U0900 Cirrus 338S1201 IC to blame or something else?

I have had the same problem with 2 successive iPhone 6s'. My contract is with Vodaphone and when I upgraded to an iPhone 6s in December last year, people I phoned kept telling me that I was very faint and kept cutting out. Vodaphone therefore replaced the first one with a second iPhone 6s. This has exactly the same problem. The normal microphone (next to the earphone jack) seems to be the problem because if I use speakerphone it works OK. However I don't want to be using speakerphone all the time. I have therefore been trying to get Vodaphone to replace it with a phone of a different make but they have refused to do so. Really lousy service and I cannot recommend Vodaphone to anyone on the basis of this experience. I would be very interested to hear if anyone else has the same problem.

I have the same problem, the person at the other end can't hear me but hears a loud distortion sound. However, I can hear well. Technician checked the microphones and they are all fine. I restored the phone to factory settings, but didn't work as well. ??? I don't want someone touch to the mainboard.

Had the same problem just now, looked at a few comments on here and came up with no answer! Just started playing with the phone and pressed the screen to the left of the home key and it started working

I downloaded a microphone app Microphone Vonbruno. Now I have control over the microphone volume. Hope this helps.

Have had 2 replacements of charge port units that include microphone. Microphone seems to stopped transmitting 3 weeks out of warranty. Apple no help. Wanted me to spend another $650 for another phone. Believe I will buy Samsung instead.

I have an Iphone 6 Plus with updated software IOS 10.3.3.

In the last week or so from what i can remember, people i've rang and put on loud speaker, have said that they cannot hear me or that i'm cutting out. I recently tried to video record from the front camera, when i went to watch the video, all I could hear was like a static background kind of noise. When i take a video of me speak loudly into the front top speaker which is for front facing videos, i can only very slightly hear my voice. I then recorded a voice memo and switched the recorded memo from speaker to normal, both worked fine. I then decided to do a video using the back camera, that works fine. I've done a hard reset, reset my settings, factory reset, turned the phone off and took the sim card out and then put it back in and rebooted the phone. Nothing has worked!! I don't have any warranty on my phone, and have spoken to customer service online and they said it maybe a hardware issue, and that i need to go to apple directly and get my device serviced.

It’s potentially down to your finger position when holding the handset. If your phone is slipping then ‘this little piggy’ will have you running all the way back to the Iphone shop

Beware and careful when you go for replacement against warrenty in india,  i have microphone issue which is not recognised by apple diognosis  tool. and will capture by voice recording and play carefully , than was captured. Problem accepted at service center also.  if you late no apple support although it is manufacturing defect. I feel apple not doin such kind of hardware related quali check for new phones. Suffering even multiple time visited apple servic center and customer care. authorized service centers has accepted hardware and manufacturing defect although  suffering.bad experience from apple.  Don’t go for apple. Its waste of money.

I’ve never experienced any hardware issues of any kind in the 11 years of getting their products. Started with iPhone 4 after hearing a buddy rave about his 3. My favourite is the 6 cause of separate earphone jack. Got a brand new 8 with 2 year contract. Thank god I didn’t buy used cause after only a month the microphone not working. Apple store scanned and said hardware issue. And will replace since it’s under warranty. Huge inconvenience. I guess iPhone quality is going downhill. A word to the wise: NEVER buy a used iPhone!
