Add a HHD to a Flash Storage Model

I have seen many answers to similar questions but not this exact scenario, so here it is:

I am getting ready to order a new iMac 27" 5k Retina Late 2015 fully loaded. However I really need more then 3TB of internal storage (this is for someone who wants the best but has problems with file management). So I was thinking that I would order the iMac with a 512GB SSD, flash storage and no hard drive. Then open it up (I have a mac tech who can do this). and install a 5 or 6TB HD. I can then Fuse them together.

The question is that if I order and iMac with only Flash storage will the SATA connectors for the 3.5" HD still be in the machine?

I think I know the answer but I want to really know before I order a $3,000 iMac.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think anyone can answer this at this time as this is such a new system I doubt anyone has had a chance to open one up (a SSD only version).

There may be varying opinions on this but personally I would not fuse them. Put your operating system and applications on the SSD and use the hard drive for storage. Consider an external Thunderbolt drive. Thus not voiding your warranty: http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/

Cutting into it will void the warranty, here's how it's done: Sostituzione hard drive su iMac Intel 27" con display Retina 5K

There are some fine Thunderbolt external 4 & 6 TB drives available: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keyword...

Thank you for your fast response. I understand your concerns but I am not concerned about warranty or difficulty. Whether I fuse them together or just have 2 internal drives, I just want to make sure the connector is there. I have only seen them with a HD already install (as in the teardown) so I don't know if the cables, connectors will be there if I order one without the HD already installed.

If it was for me I would just get a big Thunderbolt drive and be done with it, but for this person that is not ideal for their ability to manage files and desk space.

I agree with Mayer here I would get a bigger SSD and get an external Thunderbolt drive, If the person really needs that kind of storage. I would be surprised if someone really needs more than 3TB Fusion drive from the get go. If they fill the drive then get them an external later on.
