Replaced Digitizer but does not work?

I replace the cracked digitizer on my Nokia 920 and it doesn't work? While there are many good videos about how to do the replacement of the digitizer and I was very successful at doing the actual replacement. There seems to be no help in debugging or determining if there is a specific part number for the digitizer that needs to be matched up to the specific model of the Nokia 920. So the question is how do I find this out or did I just get a bad digitizer? Is there a software update or down load that is needed to make the digitizer work? If so how does one do this without a touch screen? It appears that the specific Nokia's (920) are identified by witch color they are and so depending on the color there are certain parts for that phone? Mine is the white one if that has any bearing on this question?
