Why is my laptop not starting up.?

dell inspiron 15r with windows 7 os.

I had my laptop fall down from a height less than 1 feet.It started hanging on from there and when i tried to shut down forcefully and restarted again,it shows me a startup repair screen and even that doesn't work giving me a dialogue that it couldn't find any problem but my laptop is not even starting up..What do i do now.?Even the battery gets heated up..Answer would be of a great help to me.Thank you.

i think there will be more than one problem.

possibility 1 :the fan is broken, due to security reasons you cant boot up the laptop, cause there is an build in security for overheating. ( but than he would shut down directly after (trying) booting up..

possibility 2 : that the hard drive is broken. try it on another laptop or pc.. ( mount )

but it's strange that the battery heats up... so i would open the laptop and check the mainboard.

That's what i would do.
