iPad is disabled. The screen reads"Connect to iTunes". What do I do.

Force it to recovery mode by holding power and home together with the device connected to computer until you see apple logo. Continue holding home button until device shows the connect to iTunes logo. iTunes will prompt to erase and restore as new

I have done the above but all I get is "iTunes could not connect to the iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes". Please someone help me x

Your iPad has been synced with iTunes: directly connect the iPad to iTunes to restore it;
Your iPad has never been synced with iTunes: set your iPad into recovery mode and then connect to iTunes;
Suppose iTunes doesn’t detect the iPad, using iCloud service or a third-party program like Joyoshare UltFix.
