Grey and purple lines CANON Optura60 camcorder

My camcorder is 9 yrs old and we have hardly used it. However, when we play back the tapes they have grey and purple lines going from left to right

I have used a tape cleaner on it, and at first it worked, but now it doesnt seem to make any difference. It is only when I play a tape...........Any Idea's??
