Why wont my MacBook sleep when closing the lid?

Recently swapped out a cracked and bent screen assembly with a new one from iFixit. And now my macbook wont automatically go to sleep when i close the lid. It will sleep manually though.

After my understanding there is a magnetic sensor in the lid. Could this be faulty?

I've tried clearing the NVRAM and doing an SMC reset, however if the SMC reset was sucessfull i dont know as there is no physical representation on it's success...

Any ideas?

Put a magnet on the left side of the machine and swipe it up and down.

If it turns off, you bought an LCD assembly that is missing the magnet.

If it does not turn off, you have a computer with a bad, liquid damaged, or unplugged sleep sensor.

Use a real magnet though, none of that kitchen refrigerator junk. And of course LEFT SIDE of computer, not right side where the hard drive is though.
