Hello fellow iFix'ers.
I acquired two months old, but badly damaged, MacBook Pro. There's not working parts left. Only 512GB Samsung SSD.
Is there any use for this SSD?
Could I put it in my iMac 27" mid 2012?
Adapt it with some rack to make portable drive?
Or should I just stick it to the ebay?

As you didn't give us the exact model on what it came from I can only show you what it might fit here: OWC Envoy Pro Portable, Bus-Powered* USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure. If this is the wrong one search OWC by "Envoy" so you can see all of the different units. Sadly it does matter here! As Apple has a few different SSD units.
If the SSD was compatible to install internally, you would need to completely disassemble your iMac. Review this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2546 SSD Replacement. I must warn you the newer 'Thin Series' are a bear to open. Many people have damaged the LCD panel just trying to open the system.
Frankly, I think the risks out weight the benefits here, besides I don't know if your SSD would be compatible within the iMac. Apple has used quite a few different units now and even some different firmware which makes it hard to tell what works and what doesn't and so far Apple & the major 3rd parties have not offered any upgrades for the iMac's.
OK what to do? I think going with an external case is the best option here if you want to use it as a external drive. Here's the correct case: OWC Envoy Pro Portable, Bus-Powered USB 3.0 Enclosure For Apple Flash SSDs (June 2013-Current Mac Models).

The exact model is:
Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014
2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L
512GB PCIe-based flash storage
As far as I can find anything online. It says that SSD is Samsung M.2 PCIe module. I tried to search my late 2012 iMac and on some of the motherboard pictures I can that there is a slot for SSD but on some of them there's no. But I guess my best option just to look trough OWC products.
