My tablet can send emails, but not receive them?

Before a holiday my tablet was working fine and able to send and receive emails. Now that I have returned to the UK, it seems that I can send emails but am definitely not receiving any back, even though I have had people asking why I haven't replied etc

Is there something in the settings or otherwise that I may have accidentally turned off that is now preventing me from receiving them? The internet connection is fine.
