Turn into a mac mini

I have an old Macbook 13" Mid 2009 that all I want to use it for is to have it hooked up to my tv. I can control it with a bluetooth keyboard/mouse or from a remote desktop on my other macbook. I am kind of a minimalist, and would like this thing to be as basic as possible. Is there a way to strip it of what it is and make a mac mini out of it? Or will it still work if I remove the screen and the keyboard and then shut the lid? I know that would shrink it's size or anything of the sort, but I am just curious if that would then give it more airflow and keep it cooler since it will always be in clamshell mode.

Best to polish it up and sell it. Then buy a nice Mac mini that meets your new needs. You'll be happier in the long haul.

I have a mini which is my media server at home with two 2TB drives I front end it with an Apple TV.

I have thought about that, but it is not worth spending $500 to me. I have a synology disk station that has 3 TB of room on it. So all I really need it for is to run iTunes so I can access the movies on the hard drive. It is my sisters old macbook, and it was dropped on the corner and cracked the screen and top plate, so it would cost me a few hundred just to fix it.

I would take a look online, I've seen used mini's for about $300. You don't need a speed demon here.
