My domestic partner wanted me to look on the internet to find out if he can reverse the rotation of a Emerson pump motor, at least I think that what he said. Yes it is, is there a way he can do this? He wants to put it on a air compressor thing. If so will someone answer this question with how to do it instructions please so I can have him back! Thank you so much, Desiree.

More information on the type of motor is needed. Some are by design not reversible. We do need to know if it is an induction motor or wound rotor motor. If it is an induction motor, we need to know what type, i.e. split phase, capacitor start. Capacitor start/capacitor run all require reversing two leads to change polarity and thus the direction. To reverse the direction of rotation of a single-phase AC motor, you have to reverse the polarity of the "Start" winding, in relationship to the "Run" winding. Check on here as well as this video.

He say's the info is not very readable but will try and have more info today. In the meantime he has another motor he said is three phase? and curious if it can be converted to a single phase. I seem to be the one putting all this on here because I spend some time on the computer. The air compressor is actually mine that I used for my hobby. The motor is a G.E. thermally protected 1.5 three phase. Here is the model number 5K49MN4293BX There is another number as well it is HD56FL651 He also believes that the other motor cannot be reversed because the two sides are different in depth. I really want my little compressor back so I can use it again with my hobby. I should just go buy another one and call it good but he is convinced that one of these motors will work. Both of those motors are 3phase motors. Pretty identical specs. They are used for HVAC blowers. Not sure how they ended up in your air compressor. Just to verify, you do want to reverse the rotation on those? Does your compressor require a CCW rotation?
