1 What gpu chip does the iPhone 4 use?
You don't mention this in your reviews and i am sure with the change in screen size to 4x more pixels it would have to be different.

iPhone 4 using Apple A4 (PowerVR SGX 535) as their GPU.
The A4 is a chip contain chips.
One of them is the GPU, PowerVR SGX 535.
And the CPU also inside the A4, it's the ARM Cortex A8.

Only info I can find is that it has the same as the Ipad built into the A4 chip.
