The more complete the description of your problem is ''(what OS you're using -there's a lot of those, what Application you're using there are many, added any OS upgrades or updates. is the problem at home or traveling, do you detect a network, is it after sleep, a full compete description, the text or screen shot of any error messages);; the more assistance we can provide, and, the sooner we can provide it. The SAME ISSUE AS WHAT be more specific, and you'll get more help.

I have no idea what the problem is.

Is it crap reception, or none?

First thing's first is that on older core 2 duo based uniboides there is this little foam thingie over the wifi connector. It actually conducts electricity. There is black tape over the pins of the connector to keep it from shorting the pins. make sure that tape is there, if it is not, RIP THE FOAM THINGIE.

Secondly, if this is all done, and you have no wifi, try a different wifi cable with a different wifi card.

Thirdly, if this does nothing, it may be an inductor on the board that has blown.

If your issue was not with no hardware installed, but was with poor reception, then check that the antennas are plugged into the wifi card, which is under the clutch cover or on top of the optical drive depending on your model.
