First the DVD died, then sound would cut out, now no sound

I've had problems before with this stupid thing, now I have no sound at all. AV2 used to click when you switched to it, but AV1 worked fine. Last night, the sound was working but it made a pop noise from the speakers and the display died but the light around the volume knob wasstill on and I still had video. I turned it off and then back on and I had sound for 5 seconds then it did the same thing. I turned it off before I threw it out a window and now av2 doesn't pop and I only have video. What's up with it now?
