How do I attach replacement power button to main board?

Power button ribbon ripped and trying to replace it. I have new ribbon/button part but how is it actually connected to the top PCB? Old button assembly appeared to be adhered with heatless solder paste - but how should the tracks be aligned for this to be used?

Desperately need to fix daughter's phone...

Thanks in advance

looks like it is soldered on. Have you tried to use a soldering iron yet? Any chance you could post an image of the connection on the board so we can see what you see?

did any one figure out how this button attaches.. the old button just pealed off cleanly.. no sign of solder.. I'm hoping its some sort of heat activated dry glue.. will let you know if I get any success with this.. wish me luck.. I'm going in..

Hi Cheng, It didn't go well.. I gave up eventually and bought a second hand PCB with the button attached.

Will have to dismantle assembly again first...

You may be able to see from the power flex cable pictures themselves

Received new power flex board and installed it last night. Hardest part was transferring the foil from old board. Now have a power button again but stuck in bootloader. Can see a factory reset on the horizon - didn't want to lose personal data... :(

Hello guys!

I'm having a similar problem with a missing power button on my HTC One Mini; I need to power on the phone to access my data (especially contacts saved onto the phone itself!) (debugging wont work as it wasn't enabled when the power ran out).

I'll be checking up on this page, as I have no clue what to do; I hope you can fix your phones and in turn educate me to repairing mine!

However - £50 for the circuitry seems steep, is there any other way of changing it?

Hardest part is getting off the back cover without damaging the bezel. Clipped on in three places each side but tight fit...

i have got mine off with out a crack

I found heating up the rear case with the heat gun helped to loosen its vice grip, it came apart cleanly, eventually..

£195 way too expensive. Sounds like quote for full diagnostics and to replace case parts and screen as well as they don't plan on being very careful when taking the thing apart...

Am waiting for my new flex board to arrive today. Easy to replace if you've already got the case off. Be aware you may also have to replace back cover if you can't get it off cleanly. They're quite cheap though. :)

did u order it where i order mine from or did u get a cheaper one

Hey Paul,

have you been successful? Could you glue the connectors to the PCB board? I am facing the same problem, and I am not willing to buy the complete board ;-)

Hi, Unfortunately not.. I ended up buying a second hand PCB for £23.00 from eBay, I couldn't find any information on how to attach the button flex, soldering didn't work, even bought a microscope to see exactly what was going on, but just couldn't get the button flex to stick at all.. I gave up, but would still be interested to here if any one discovered a reliable method..

Cheers, Paul

I used conductive glue and it worked but fell off shortly.... Then I used conductive tape and it works, but is always depressed.. I just remapped the button once I got the phone back on
