Hi iFixit,
I fix alot of iphones but I never fixed or owned any ipad. I was looking to see if an Ipad mini LCD and Digitizer can be connected to an Iphone? Is it possible? Which one could it be? Please let me know. Thank you.

icurma, most likely not unless you are a top notch hardware hacker. Different connector, different hardware different circuitry etc. Take a look at the comparison and the pinout, and judge for yourself if you have the skills and knowledge to modify your iPad. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks for your help. It seems very hard to do something like this. I thought to give it a shot. The only reason I am asking is that ppl say that you can test the ipad mini's screen on the phone. I was like they are out of their mind for saying that. Because I never opened an ipad before I thought to asked first if that was possible.

If you had the hdmi to TV you could have it displayed on a TV..
So you want the iPad mini screen displayed on your iPhone? Is that right?

I want iphone to be displayed on ipad mini. It's a car project I want to do.
What I want to know if ipad mini's screen connecters are the same as iphone's. I want to raplace iphone's screen with an ipad mini's screen.
Impossible you cannot do that
So you are saying the connecters are different?
What about any adapters?

Sounds like you want to buy a 4g enabled mini and sync it with your phone.

What I want to do is to connect an unlocked iphone to an ipad mini lcd and have it mounted in the car to replace the oem sterio. Connected to the iphone jack and here you go you have a new system. And in the same time use it as phone and you dont need to pay extra $$$ for the service internet phone etc. just put in the sim card and keep running.
Unlocked doesnt mean free data, no? So if you're paying for data, you might as well just have a 4G enabled mini that iCloud syncs to your phone, therefore it shares all your phone music etc.
I hear what you are saying---on long trips, I use my unlimited data from my phone to serve as a WiFi hotspot for my mini---which I then use in the car for maps, music and content streaming. In fact, I stream data to 6 different devices from my phone while we motor down the roadway.
I'm just not sure that you need to actually physically connect anything to a phone in order to do what you'd like to do.
I know there is no free data. and No I don't want to have 2 bills. Thats why I don't want to have 4g ipad. With the phone you only put a simcard of your daily phone and have only one bill
The most straightforward solution to your description of what you'd like to do does not require a physical connection between a mini and an iPhone.
It sounds like you want to play iPhone music on your car stereo. Solution: Wirelessly sync your mini with your iTunes library, same as your phone. Then plug the mini into the OEM stereo via the mini jack and play music.
It sounds like you want to make calls in the car. Solution: install a bluetooth system that can route calls through the car stereo.
Is sounds like you want to use apps on the mini that require data---Solution: use a personal hotspot feature of your phone to generate WiFi for the mini to use.
I understand. But I want to build it in. Remove the sterio. I can connect the ipad or iphone already to the car speakers. I can play music. I can go around it but it's the easy way. That's not fun lol. I wouldn't buy another bt when Iphone already has a build in phone system. I want to use a iphone not an ipad. i want to use only the ipad's mini lcd digitizer cause it is large enough. I appreciate all the suggestions from everyone. Don't get me wrong, I can buy an ipad mini and put in the car, but I want to build something uniqe for myself and my car.

You are special. If I did know how to, I would not be asking in here. Android TV box doesn't have a simcard. But what do I know. Go on to someone else's post and be a smart one to them too
