After installing a Seagate 1TB 7200 RPM 3.5" Hard Drive into my iMac (Intel 17") the disk did not appear using the instal disk. In Disk Utilities in an attempt to format, it does not appear either. Does this mean an improper install??

Your machine has a Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s), so it appears to be compatible.
What operating system are you running? Why are you replacing the drive?

Called Seagate and they think it may be a compatibility issue. They mentioned that the new drive is a theta 3 and the original in the iMac maybe a theta 1??
Don't know what that means...
