Why wont my replacement battery charge (no light)?

I have changed out the battery of my mid 2010 macbook pro twice now and both times (2 different replacement batteries) the battery runs the computer fine on its own, but it will not charge. When I plug the adapter in, there is no light at all. My original battery runs the computer fine if it is plugged in (green light appears) but it's well passed the recommended charging cycles, so if the cord detaches even for a split second, the computer turns off instantly. I really need to figure this out and get a working battery in my laptop. Can anyone help?

Also, Resetting PRAM and SMC did not do anything.

Side note:

Original battery specs are: 10.95V - - 77.5W

Replacement battery specs are: 10.95V - - 72.5W

We need to figure out what is going on. Are you ever getting an orange light? Please download and run Coconut Battery and let us know your results. Watch out for which version you download and pair it with which operating system you have.

There is no light at all with the replacement battery. The old battery (that wont charge but will run if plugged in) produces a steady green light.

The battery diagnostic says the replacement battery is in "Good" condition and is on Cycle Count "1." The only problem is my computer is not recognizing the power adapter.

I would replace the Mag-safe adapter. Since it powers up, I think the AC adapter is good. First see how dirty the mag-safe connection is, clean as necessary. It may just need to be replugged into the bottom of the logic board so take a look at it before ordering any parts. Here's how to replace it: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement
