my superdive wont update newest firmware and the drive wont let me insert a cd. The tiny metal latch that secures the cd when inserted is up as if there was a cd inserted. i just physically removed a stuck cd. what could be the problem.

This sounds like a stupid answer on my part, but have you 1) pushed eject, or 2) restarted your machine? It's possible that the superdrive will cycle and return to the open position.

Yeah i have tried all conventional methods of ejectas well as more complicated stuff like option command r p keys and nothing.
