Having issues reinstalling power button

I've replaced a few dozen digitizers so I'm not a total newb. So I had an issue with an ear speaker and replaced it. However I simply cannot get the power button and assembly to work right.

I've completely reassembled the phone to test and everything works perfectly other than the power button.

The button isn't sticking out of the frame as far as it should. I've tightened and loosened the screws and have also tried sticking in a piece of paper to take out slack, no luck. It doesn't click but the actual cap does click when testing it. I have the hinge facing down and am just having really bad luck. What the heck am I doing wrong here? I ordered a new cable and all but I don't think that's going to change anything.

Help.... Please

In that case usually broken dot on cap sticks somewhere between button and cap and prevents clicking. If you have microscope check the cap and button side.

If not

Check if the metal button still has the ring in it. It falls down sometimes.

If not

Check if you have put enough thick paper between button and cap.

Or

You can transfer another cap from old broken power button or volume button (volume button caps are compatible with power button)

Good luck ...
