Ok! I was replacing the digitizer and apparently the home button "gold Z spring" came off the motherboard and I was wondering how to reattach it. By glue or solder it?

glue metal to metal ???

maybe i dont get it, but the spring makes the contact - if you glue it to the board - how should this work ?

in my opinion is soldering the only way to get it done

but it's not an easy task - but doable

I agree, You can not glue it. Maybe if you found some conductive glue but I still do not think it would work in this area.

a web suite named thinkgeek.com has some stuff called wire glue which is a carbon based glue to help on small projects that might be too hard to solder I'm gonna give it a try myself with my spring, wish me luck

I won't use something like that - once you try that - you never cant use "regular" stuff without many problems

Don't It doesn't work! I tried it. You need to have it micro solider back. Let me know if the digitzer works. Cuz I think when the spring came off it corrupted the motherboard which the iPod is dead. I had to buy a new iPod.

Soldering is very difficult. I got it once, by heating the small amount of solder that was already there. But it came off as I tried to adjust it. Here's my recommendation: set the z-spring down in place and hold it there with tweezers and place super glue in the tiny hole. I think that should keep the contact, and since the glue is being applied from through the hole, it won't prevent the piece from conducting the electrical signal. Wish I'd done that. Now my z-spring is unusable. Does anyone know where to find one?

If you want to glue it use something strong so it doesn't take up space. Soldering might not be the best idea.
