Graphic problem freeze - SSD drive replacement

Hi all,

My iMac will not boot anymore. Just after the Apple logo, the following screen appears, and the computer freezes.

History is I added an SSD drive in the optical bay - but that was 6 month ago. I used the ifixit bay adaper. Anyway, I have had my mac opened. So I wanted to check if all cables we still well placed and everything looked fine....everything but this cable:

It is the first/upper one to detach. Seems I have somehow ruined it...or squeezed it.

But what can I do? Can it be that cable...I have used the mac for six month without any issues...until now.

Thanks for any thoughts or recommendations...

Regards The Dane!

I tried to unplug the V Sync cable but the computer acted the same.

I think I broke either the graphics card cable or the socket it goes into in the logic board (yes, so stupid - while checking if all cable were ok!!)

I ended up going to a local Mac repair shop here in Denmark (Humac) but they will need some days before they get back to me...

I will update here when I get the result.

If you just damaged the cable (how & why) starting this freezing it seems the likely source of you problem... but, if the cable damage occurred 6 mos. ago I can't think of a reason you should be seeing problems now.

Connect to an external monitor to ensure the artifacts are only on the iMac's display (if they appear on the external display you have a Video Graphics Card issue).

Did you use proper ESD precautions? You could have zap'ed your logic board and it took this long to show up.

I agree with Machead here you'll need to try an external display to see if the problem follows if it does then it's the GPU if not it's the display or the LDVS cable. I don't think you damaged the SATA cable but you could have damaged the displays LDVS cable.
