Microwave will not stop beeping

My GE microwave will not stop beeping. It beeps every 60 sec. as if it were through heating. How do I stop this?

How can one delete this annoying beeping altogether?

da

Having the same problem. I can reset and it works okay for maybe a day and then have beeps with sensor problem. We never have used a sensor.

I thought I had the same problem, very short beep every 60 seconds,

and the comments below were depressing. But it turned out it was really

my Kidde smoke detector in the basement directly below the microwave!

Unplug unit from the outlet for at least 1 minute then plug it back in. This should reset the microwave and the time will need reset afterwards.

If that doesn't work do a search on how to reset your model of microwave.

I had that problem and it solved itself very easily. I unplugged the microwave and left it unplugged until it stopped beeping and all the residual power had been used up. I then replugged it in and no beeping! It has not beeped except when it should for almost a week. Apparently this resets the affected board, like rebooting your computer. Few people know about this. My repairman was astonished. It had never occurred to him to try that method.

Seems like the right answer, my issue is that this microwave is part of a cabinet unit. There’s no way for me to unplug it and I don’t know the model number.

da

Mine is part of a cabinet unit also. I opened the cabinet above it, took everything out and found the plug in the back against the wall and then unplugged it with mo problems.

I know this is an old post but it's the first one that came up for me and may be also for the next seeker.

Turn off the breaker it is connected to for at least a minute this will be the same as unplugging it and should be much easier in your case.

We unplugged the GE microwave and it continued beeping for 24 hrs every minute. Drove us crazy as we can not understand why it beeps so long when power off. (No, no other devise is the beeper culpert).

We gave up and plugged it back in and tried pushing the clear button for several seconds. Beeping continued every minute. Unplugged it again for 1/2 hour and still beeping. Unplugged again and will leave it 24hrs again and if still beeping will tear off wall and install a new microwave, but it will not be a GE.

Anybody figure out how to stop this beeping other than removing the beeper part from the microwave??

Same here. Where is the beeper part? I will rip it out.

Omg. I’m experiencing this beeping now and it’s driving me crazy. Been unplugged for a few hours now. I’ve tried to mute the sound as well and no luck. My nephew who is very tech savvy is coming to look at it - if he can fix it (he can usually fix anything) I’ll share with everyone

Give it to your ex.

Unplugged for 48 hours. Stopped beeping finally. Plugged back in. No beeping - for about 9 hours, then beeping began again. Unplugged now for about 36 hours. Still beeping. Will wait another 36???

@cam2363 cameron Is this your researched opinion? Or is this researched? https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/acad...

@mayer It was a joke

This is no joke. I figured out how to stop the 'end-of-cycle' beeping. It's a menu option. This, however, did NOT stop the incessant single beep every 60 sec. As I mentioned, after uplugging for over 48 hours it finally stops. Other posters suggested unplugging and replugging to 'reset' the mother board. This also did NOT work. The unit cooks fine. There's a YouTube video on how to disconnect the speaker, also one on how to test the 'door open' alarm which, I suspect, this is.

da

Built in, same issue. Unplugging it worked after about 2 days of beeping. Several months later, same thing, this time it only took overnight to stop. Now after only about 3 weeks, once again. GE appliances kind of suck in my opinion. But the unit works otherwise. Looking into disconnecting the beeper and if that does not work, I can see us replacing this very soon. NO GE appliance however.

I am on day 2-1/2 and it’s still beeping… I might have to remove the beeping device. At least I haven’t moved in yet.

My microwave is built in.

The end button starting beeping in an atypical manner i.e. very fast and wouldn't stop.

The turned the breaker off for 10 seconds, turned in back on and all is well!

Why General Electric manufacturer made this kind of stupid device, it this kind problem they have why they are not recalls to fix or find a solution. I am tired of beep, it doesn't make any sense when their no power still beeping because it's not watch, or something small that can keep energy. I am sorry I couldn't find any solution. Thank you from all of you

It wasn’t the microwave, it was the dishwasher!!!

I experienced the same issue with a beeping every 60 seconds. After several attempts to fix the microwave (unplugging/reboot/ mute function), I decided to completely remove the microwave from the kitchen and put it in my garage, then voila!!! The beeping continued, then I realized the issue was with the dishwasher, it wasn’t completely closed. It stopped beeping whenever I unplugged the dishwasher.

Ps. It’s a GE dishwasher, just like all other appliances in the house.

Hopefully this will help someone else with the same issue.
