Looks like the 1998-2004 generation of the 911 is commonly referred to as the 996. I managed to dig up a video of someone showing you how to change the oil. The owner's manual says you need 7.9 quarts of 0W-40 oil, and shows you where the filler cap is on page 207.

From the Porsche Dealer literature:

'''Maintenance Schedule – 911 Carrera (996), 911 Turbo (996), Boxster (986) (USA/Canadian Vehicles Only)

Required Maintenance and Lubrication Service – See Technical Manual, Binder 0, Section 03 - Maintenance

No oil change is required for this service. However, an oil and filter change is required at least every 2 years for vehicles

not receiving a scheduled major maintenance. Yearly maintenance for vehicles driven more than 9000 miles per year,

wait and perform the 15,000 mile maintenance at the scheduled mileage interval.
