I've got my firmware and TinyUmbrella...ERROR 3194

HI,

I've got this iphone 4 (GSM) the other day, and it's currently running 4.3.1 (8G4) and rocking the 04.10.01 firmware, I went to '''iclarified.com' to download a copy of my personal favorite firmware 5.1.1, yet when i go to restore phone, holding shift while clicking restore in iTunes, I get Error 3194 restore

Is it because the firmware I'm trying to use needs to be signed? If so can anyone explain to me how to sign it mself, I hav TinyUmbrella....and little idea about what an shsh blob is

Hi William,

You might not have put your device into Pwned DFU mode. (Google how to if you haven't). The 5.1.1 software is not the latest firmware by Apple, and they do not like their users changing to different iOS's apart from the latest version. Pwned DFU allows you to bypass this safeguard put in by Apple.

There are other reasons for this and I will cover them if this does not work, but this seems to be the common issue for people who have not looked into the world of jailbreaking and unlocking.

(04.10.01 is your baseband, in case you didn't know)

I agree with JJ PT however if this is a new phone and/or no shsh blobs have ever been saved then you will be unable to update to any version apart from the latest as the cydia server will not be able to verify the request.

At this current time there is no way to get around this so you will have to suffice with IOS 6.0.1

To check if your phone does have any blobs, plug it in and run TinyUmbrella then click on the desired device on the left hand menu. From there select save shh, and you will see on the menu at the bottom of the screen any blobs you have. If you have 5.1.1 blobs all you need to do is run the TSS server, pwned DFU mode as stated above and the Shift restore on itunes. Should be all okay!
