Nintendo Switch: Touch screen and game card reader stopped workin after fan replacement

Hi all. I finished replacing my dying fan on my switch with parts from this site, and now suddenly my touchscreen stopped working and I can’t read any game cards. It says there’s a card read error and to reinsert each time. Touch screen doesn’t respond to touch at all. I rechecked everything is connected properly and have been scouring reddit and google for a few weeks trying to figure this out. What do I need to replace? Digitizer? Card reader? Mother board? A different fan? I threw away the old one. This is so weird and frustrating cause I’m out of warranty.

Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Switch stuck on boot-logo - suggestions?

Hi,

Symptoms:

I have a fairly new Nintendo Switch that is stuck at the Switch boot-logo wich will stay there forever. Charging is normal and it will charge at 15V and around .8 A.

When turning off it has like a short cracking sound coming from it. Just like a short smack or tick (it’s fairly noticable).

It will not boot into safe-mode or into recovery-mode.

Hardware:

Inside it looks fine, but its a different board than what I’m used to, so the layout and IC’s are a little bit different from the others. It reads HAD-CPU-01

All normal fault zones like the charging IC and display IC checks out ok with no shorted capacitors or anything out of the ordinary…

But when I check around this place, on the bottom side from the CPU there is 3 shorted capacitors nearby. I guess it should not be like this..? Can someone check if these actually short to ground on both sides? (I ask because some places they should, but since I not have a known good board, I am not sure what they should read.

Thanks for answers.

The capacitors marked in red are the ones that shows short to ground-plane on both sides.

Nintendo Switch: Loose LCD connector ribbon?

I had been using it normally, until these very fine vertical black lines appeared all over the screen. The colors of the pixels would then start to 'bleed' out, forming these bright horizontal bands. I've hopped between a few forums, and apparently a few others have had similar issues. Commenters said that it was a potentially loose LCD connector ribbon cable, so:

I'd like to know if this is the case for my device, and if so, how exactly should I fix it. Would disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbons suffice?

If it isn't just a mere loose cable, could it possibly be an issue with the LCD itself? If so, would it be better for me to take it to a repair shop?

Nintendo Switch: How to hold replaced Switch 1 battery in place?

I had my Switch 1 battery replaced in January 2026. A few weeks ago I noticed what sounded like something being knocked around inside my Switch whenever I moved it. I was recently able to open the Switch again and confirmed that the adhesive strip attached to the battery has failed, leading to the battery becoming unsecured.

Aside from buying a new adhesive strip, is there anything that can be done to secure the battery in place? I've seen some switch batteries have some foam attached to them for this purpose, but mine doesn't. Is it possible to buy something similar to keep it in place?

The battery itself seems healthy, so I'd like to avoid buying another battery if possible.

Nintendo Switch: SD card isn't detected? (replaced)

Hi!! I used the guide here to replace my SD reader!!

(Sostituzione Lettore Schede Micro SD Nintendo Switch)

Before, there were just general errors with games not loading, CFW ran in 1-bit mode, etcetc.

I just replaced it, and it seems that the SD just isn't detected in general? Even if I boot into stock Horizon, normal stuff, it just doesn't load the SD at all.

The guide itself was extremely vague with...what to do for putting it in, basically?

Like, I tried to push it in a lil bit but it never really "connected", and I just figured that I'd leave it how it was? Like, maybe that's just how it works, you don't feel a connection between the two?

Was I supposed to just push it into the connector thingy itself?

Yeah, I replaced the black adhesive pad thingy.

(also it seems that one of my backplate screws got stripped lol, oh well~)

Either way, any help?? Attached are some things that may or may not help, sorry for the VERY blurry pictures...

Do you guys have any help, advice, correction for a VERY stupid error that I made?

thank you very much for your help

Nintendo Switch: Connector that keeps the Switch fan connected broke off

Hello,

I've caused a friend's switch some damage that the fan is not operating now. Everything else works fine thankfully, but it seems like the gray clamp that keeps the connection together snapped off and it looks like the pin on top broke off with it. Here is the condition it is in.

Compared to the image shown here in iFixIt:

This seems like it requires some solder work on the motherboard with a replacement ribbon clamp. Can anyone confirm this is the case or is are there any suggestions we can try?

So far, putting pressure in the area does not help nor did any electrical tape with pressure did either.

Thanks

Update (05/10/2022)

Update to @flannelist. Looks like the connectors look okay? I haven't had any luck trying to put pressure getting the fan to turn on unfortunately.

the switch looks fine, there is no damage that is seen and the joy con also has no cosmetic damage that I could see, it just feels loose and falls off randomly. the switch is a limited edition switch that has a ACNH back casing and I would like to try to keep the back casing and casing for the right joy-con, if a replacement casing is needed. The switch works fine and and the only problem is the joy-con slipping off

Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Swich won't power on, green light blinks once on dock

My younger brother was playing on it, it popped up with a screen telling him to "restart the system/ power off the system". He does that then it doesn't turn back on again. I've tried every method to get it to turn on including...

# Hard restaring it for 20 seconds

Charging it up with diffrent chargers including official one from nintendo.

I want a solution that doesn't have me replace it or getting rid of the save data. I have an SD card in it, but not all the data is stored on there. What should I do?

Nintendo Switch: Why won't my Switch Charge?

So my girlfriend recently purchased a Nintendo Switch online and I cannot figure out for the life of me why it won’t charge. Things I have tried are:

Replacing the Battery (Successfully, showed charged, but won’t recharge even with new battery).

Testing multiple USB-C cables, an off-brand, and an on-brand.

The console indicates that it’s charging but the number just falls to depletion.

When connected to the dock, it doesn’t make any difference and does show on the screen as it would on the tablet part.

My question is the fact that I have occurred the forums and tried everything but replacing the USB-C or any of the on circuit chips. Should I try replacing the USB-C connector? Since it is indicating that it is charging, but not actually charging means its more of a chip issue? Are most of the chips repaired with a heat gun?

Thank you in advance for all of your help/suggestions!
