Hi @danielmspangler
Seems like it may be a faulty ice dispenser paddle switch (aka actuator pad) being permanently operated.
The ice maker only works when the doors are shut due to the power for the ice maker being controlled by the door light switch i.e. due to the circuit design, the ice maker can't dispense or won't fill etc when a door is open.
To verify if the actuator pad is faulty or not, here's the [document|33183|tech sheet] for the model.
Enter the service diagnostic test mode as described by the tech sheet and perform ''Service Test #9 UI Button and Pad Test'' and check if the ice actuator pad is OK or not.
Alternatively using a DMM's (digital multimeter- if you have one) Ohmmeter function, disconnect the power to the refrigerator and then gain access to the user interface (UI) control board (see video linked below) and disconnect the harness cable from the J1 plug connector on the board and place the meter between the J1/1 and J1/2 pins on the ''cable plug,'' (not the board connector) and check if it is short circuit or not. If it is short circuit i.e. 0.00 Ohms then it is showing that it is permanently operated when it shouldn't be.
-Here's a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7wTvHQE0jA|video] that may help to gain access to the UI control board and if necessary to replace the actuator pad.
