It may be that the amp has become disconnected from the radio unit, so there's no radio signal being amplified for the radio.
The amp is located under the dash panel near the bonnet release. There should be a small thin wire and a thicker grey wire connected to it. If the small wire isn't connected then you won't get an amplified signal
Is there any sound (max volume selected) at all heard from the radio when selecting AM radio and tuning for stations?

The service manual doesn't give the location of the amp, perhaps it is close to the radio unit.Check where the aerial leads connects to on/near the radio

Hi,
Something to check.
Do you get a hissing sound from the radio when selecting AM radio and tuning for stations?
