EasySMX ESM-9100 D-Pad Replacement

This guide demonstrates how to replace the d-pad buttons on your EasySMX ESM-9100 game controller. A probable reason for the d-pad on your controller to stop working is that the rubber is not aligned correctly, and the button itself has gotten stuck to the front cover of the device. The rubber is supposed to be pressed with the button, which in turn returns the button to its original position. The only method to fix this is to access the rubber and button directly in the controller. If the d-pad of your EasySMX ESM-9100 stops working, follow this guide.

Place the controller face down on a solid surface.
Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven 10 mm screws from the back cover.
The order does not matter.

Use the iFixit opening tool to pry off the back cover and remove it to reveal the internal components.
Place the cover off to the side, then grab the circuit board and gently remove it from the front cover.
Be careful when removing the back cover, the components in this controller are loosely attached and can fall out easily.

Gently remove the rubber off the circuit board that corresponds with the d-pad.
Be careful to not damage the rubber which has two excess pieces that hang off of it and slot into the circuit board.

Gently push the d-pad back into the socket by pressing on it lightly.
The d-pad fits securely in the cover and cannot be removed without breaking the cover. Do not use excessive force when pushing it into place, as you may break the top cover.
