Device is Overheating

The laptop overheats very quickly in a short period of time.

Dust in Fan

Locate the fan in the device and check for any dust that can cause it to slow down or block the cooling system. If there is dust on the fan, then take a can of compressed air to clean the fan.

Thermal Paste

Locate the processor located under a metal frame, lift the clasp and remove the processor by taking it from the edges, Clean off the thermal paste already applied with an isopropyl alcohol solution and a q-tip. Apply a new layer of the paste after, ensuring that the amount does not seep out from the edges, you should be able to see the bottom of the processor through the paste.

Short battery life

Drain of energy occurs when batteries have been used for many years, computer screen malfunction or settings would be the cause of short battery life since the main consumer of energy is the screen, and charger malfunction, exposed wires, false electrical contact inside cables caused for bend or straightening cable can be one of the potential causes of short battery life.

Battery drain

Replace the battery for a new one, or change the settings of our screen if it is too bright.

Keyboard is unresponsive

The keyboard of your device is not responding to keystrokes.

Update/Change driver

Open up the device manager on your device and update your keyboard drivers to the latest version.

Clean beneath the keys

Using a can of compressed air. gently blow away any dust or debris lingering beneath the keys to ensure nothing is blocking them.

Power Button Not Working

The device’s power button is unresponsive.

Soft Power Cycle

Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds or until the device responds. Press again to turn the device on.

Hard Power Cycle

Should the device’s power button prove to be unresponsive, a hard power cycle can be used to return proper operation. Unplug the computer from the AC adapter, remove the battery, and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Re-install the battery, re-connect the AC cord, and press the power button to turn the computer back on.

Monitor Display is incorrect

This can be noticed when viewing the desktop, if the screen looks white or the colors clash it is time to take a look at the display settings.

Color Clash/ Fade

Go into the settings and locate the tab that indicates you to the color contrast, depending on personal preference you can start at default setting (mid line) and find what works for you.

Brightness Issues

Utilize the function keys on your device (“F6”, “F7”) to raise and lower the brightness levels to your preferred level. If the keys are not available, within Windows, go into power options and click and drag the screen brightness slider to adjust to your preference.

VGA cable

When there are display issues, check the ends of the VGA cable, if it has been vending for long periods of time, it might be worn out. If there are exposed wires we will need to replace the VGA cable as soon as possible to avoid external contact, or just tape it with electrical tape.
