Ring Floodlight Cam Video Appears Blurry
The Ring Floodlight Cam video footage appears blurry and is no longer clear.
The Lens Needs Cleaning
Accumulations such as dirt, condensation, pollen, spider-webs, dust, and more can be present on your Floodlight Cam. Please use a dry microfiber cloth and gently wipe down the lens thoroughly.
Protective Film Remains
Leaving the protective film remains on your Ring device can cause a hazy, murky, and fogged-up video. Ensure any protective plastic or films have been completely removed from your Floodlight Cam.
There are multiple ways to figure out if these remains are present on your device, most of which involve trying to find a small, faint edge around the lens. Some of these ways include:
- Checking if there are tiny air bubbles trapped under the surface
- Rubbing your finger along the edge of the lens to feel a tiny ledge
- Finding a tiny, clear, or colored tab (usually either blue or red) meant for pulling off the film
- Looking for a hole that is present in many protective films
If you believe the film has melted onto the lens, we recommend gently wiping the lens with a 50/50 mix of Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and water.
Weak Wi-Fi Connection
A weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection can cause the video quality of the camera to worsen. Check the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) to make sure the Floodlight Cam is receiving a stable and efficient internet connection.
To do this, open the Ring app, select your device, and tap "Device Health". Then, under the "Network" section, look for Signal Strength to find the RSSI number. A value of -0 to -60 is considered good, while any value higher than -60 can indicate a weak connection.
The Lens is Scratched
If the lens itself is scratched or damaged, it would be best to contact our support team for further assistance.

Ring Floodlight Cam Will not Connect to WIFI
Ring Floodlight Cam won't pair with the app, even after resetting both the camera and the WIFI. Follow the steps provided to fix the connection.
Firmware Issue
Make sure the ring app is updated. App updates include system fixes, so making sure the app is up to date will help prevent issues. If issues with the app still persist, contact ring support.
Router Connection Issue
If your device isn't the Ring Floodlight Cam Pro model, then it isn't compatible with a 5ghz connection. Check network properties on your device to find the WIFI compatibility. If your WIFI is only 5ghz, only the pro model will be able to connect. In this case, you will either need to buy another model, or buy a new WIFI router. Another possible issue with the WIFI router is location. The Ring Floodlight Cam must be connected to a nearby router, otherwise it will result in an insufficient connection. To fix this, either purchase a WIFI range extender, or move the physical location of your router to be closer to the device.
App connection issue
The Ring app must be connected to WIFI to work properly. Ensure the device is powered on, and that your personal device has a clear WIFI connection. Next, make sure that your device and the ring app are up to date. If these steps don't work, see device reboot section.
Device Reboot
Rebooting your device is an easy fix for several issues. Begin by finding the physical reset button at the top of your device. Hold the reset button for 30 seconds. After the 30 second period, the status light should flash, indicating that the device has been reset. If a device reboot doesn't work, refer to the motherboard replacement guide. (Placeholder Link)
Ring Floodlight Cam No Audio
When viewing live or recorded clips, there is no audio output.
Audio features are turned off in the Ring app
Open the Ring app and select the Floodlight Camera. Navigate to Device settings and then Audio settings, and make sure the Record Audio and Streaming Audio are turned on. After enabling them, test the camera using Live View to confirm the sound works.
Weak Internet connection or signal interference
To restore audio, check the camera’s internet strength in the Device Health section of the Ring app. If the signal is weak, move your router closer to the camera or install a Wi-Fi extender. Reducing interference from other electronics and reconnecting the camera to the network can also help stabilize audio transmission.
Outdated firmware or Ring app software
For software-related problems, update the Ring app to the latest version and check for firmware updates in Device Health. Once updates are complete, turn off power to the Floodlight Camera for about thirty seconds and then turn it back on to reset the system before testing the audio again.
Dirt, moisture, or debris blocking the microphone
For any physical obstructions, first turn off power to the camera and locate the microphone opening. Gently remove dirt or debris using compressed air or a soft brush, and make sure the unit is dry and uncovered before restoring power and testing the sound.
