When using the touchpad on your Lenovo IdeaPad S145-14IWL, is it not responding? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.
Touchpad likely disabled
Check the system settings and ensure the touchpad is enabled and properly configured. The following steps/notes may help:
- Checking the touchpad settings
- Pressing the keyboard shortcut to enable the touchpad, such as F6 or Fn+F6
- Checking the User Guide or Manual for your keyboard's function keys
Possible Updates Needed for Driver
Your Lenovo may have some possible updates needed to fully access and/or fully enable the use of your IdeaPad Touchpad. The following notes may help:
- Updating or reinstalling the touchpad drivers in Device Manager
- Checking for an exclamation point before the driver in Device Manager
- Downloading the latest drivers for your touchpad model from the Lenovo website
After downloading the proper updates and drivers, the touchpad may just have to be reenabled again and should be fully working.
Clean the Touchpad
Dust or debris might be obstructing the touchpad.
- Clean the touchpad gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust or debris
- Clean with air duster to reach hard-to-reach areas or crevasses
This will clear up any components possibly blocked up by debris and/or substances disrupting it and get it working again, unless the components severed some damage.
Touchpad Settings Misconfigured
The touchpad settings might be misconfigured. The settings typically have to be setup fully or messed around with to a personal setting to be fully accessible.
- Go to settings
- Click Devices
- Find touchpad and adjust the sensitivity and other settings to ensure proper functionality
Hardware Issues
There might be a hardware issue with the touchpad.
- Check the hardware if none of the above solutions work
- Understanding the components being dealt with and knowing where to look
- Consider replacements if any noticeable damage or issues arise
- Consider contacting Lenovo support if the issue persists
