If your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 CB 11IGL05 screen is either frozen or stuck on a black screen, follow this troubleshooting guide for potential solutions.
Drained Battery
- Check the battery level and try charging your device.
- A dead battery can cause the screen to be unresponsive.
Software Glitch
- If you can't perform a soft reset because the screen is frozen.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds until all lights turn off
- Power the Chromebook back on and see if restarting the device fixed it.
- Try to boot into recovery mode
- Disconnect all peripherals (mouse, external hard drives, USB, etc.)
- Turn off the Chromebook
- Press and hold Esc + Refresh (top row, circular arrow key), then press Power
- Release Power, but keep holding Esc + Refresh
- Wait until a message appears on the screen
- If this doesn’t work → continue troubleshooting
- If none of this works
- The device could be overheated
Device Overheating
- Feel for high temperature on the keyboard and underneath panel
- Avoid using in direct sunlight
- Avoid overcharging
- Lower the screen brightness
- Close background applications
- If none of these help / occur:
- Could be loose internal screen cable
Loose Internal Screen Cable
- Test with an external monitor
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor
- If the display works on the external monitor
- It is most likely a loose internal screen cable or display panel
- Go to the replacement/repair guide
- If it does NOT show on the external monitor
- It is most likely a failed motherboard
