HP ProBook 430 G3 Not Charging
Released in 2015, the HP ProBook 430 G3 is a 13.3-inch laptop. This page addresses an issue where the HP ProBook 430 G3 is having battery issues not charging. if your HP ProBook g3 shows a green light on the charger but the battery does not charge, the laptop shuts off immediately when unplugged, or will not turn on even though the battery appears to have power, you're experiencing a battery related issue. this page will explain the most common causes and how you can fix them.
Possible cause #1- Device needs a hard reset
in some cases residual charge can prevent the laptop from detecting or use the battery correctly and a reset can drain any residual charge.
the steps to fix:
- power off the laptop completely
- unplug the Ac adapter
- remove the battery from the device
- hold the power button for 15-25 seconds to drain the leftover charge.
- plug in the AC adapter without the battery and power on the device.
- if it turns on, reinstall the battery and check if it is charging.

Often this will fix the issue but if it does not try the steps bellow.
Possible cause #2- Battery Is Not Connect Properly
Often than not the battery can have loose connections which often is dirty and corroded which can stop it from receiving power.
Steps to fix:
- remove the battery
- inspect for dust, corrosion, foreign objects
- Gently clean the contacts using a microfiber cloths or a cotton swab.
- reinstall the battery and make sure it feels firm and properly seated when reinstalled.
- turn the laptop on
- if anything looks broken or very corroded please handle carefully. often the battery can be leaking and cause corrosion. it is advised to replace the battery immediately do not attempt to charge.
Possible cause #3- Failing or Dead Battery
many times a battery will show a charging light on the adapter but still be unable to hold any charge. your battery might be dead or degraded.
what to look out for is if the laptop only work when plugged in, battery percentage does not increase, or shuts off immediately when unplugged.
Solution:
- remove the battery and power on the laptop with the Ac adapter only, attempt to power on if it does the battery is likely the issue.
- replace the battery with a certified compatible HP ProBook 430 G3 battery.
- FYI, Older HP laptops like this are known for battery issues.
Possible cause #4- Faulty AC Adapter
Green lights can be misleading. Even with a green light, the charger might not be supplying enough voltage to charge the battery. testing the adapter is important.
- Make sure the AC adapter is compatible with the laptop, this laptop uses a 19.5v 65W 3.33A 4.5mm-3.0mm Charger
- avoid cheap third party chargers as many does not meet the required Hp voltage
- check for Damages often the wires inside the cord may be disconnected after excessive bending and straining.
Its it always best to use different outlets in your home, it might not be a Charger issue. importantly use a new charger.
Possible cause #5- Motherboard Power Circuit
If you got this far and nothing worked, it might be a circuit board issue. the internal charging circuitry may be damaged. Often the charging port is damaged from improper use, corrosion, dirt and ect.
- inspect the port area for any loose components or any burn marks.
- try another adapter to rule it out
- make sure their is no dust, foreign objects or Brocken pieces.
Not much to do if the battery wont charge after applying these other than getting a donor motherboard.
if these steps do not work consider getting a new battery, new Ac adapter, new motherboard. often is cheaper to by a new laptop .
