Laptop Will Not Boot
Your laptop will not boot (power on) properly and may show an error message.
RAM Not Properly Installed or Faulty
If your laptop does not turn on normally and/or makes a beeping sound, there may be an issue with your RAM. Your RAM may have been damaged, or incorrectly installed, and needs to be replaced or reinstalled.
Malfunctioning Hard Drive
If your laptop does power on and cannot detect an operating system, there may be a hard drive problem. If a warning states that your system cannot find/load operating system you need to replace your hard drive.
Discs Not Being Read
Your laptop cannot read or write to CD’s or DVD’s.
Damaged CD or DVD
Your CD or DVD may be broken or scratched so that your drive cannot read it.
Faulty CD Drive
You have put in a CD or DVD that you know is not damaged, but your drive can't read it. Your drive may be damaged and need replacing.
System Doesn't Recognize Your Drive
Your software does not recognize your optical drive. In this case your drive will not appear in Windows Explorer. This could be due to a recent software update not being compatible with your optical drive. Check for a driver update on your laptop manufacturer's website.
Screen Does Not Turn On
Your HP Pavilion’s screen is not turning on or giving a reliable image even though you know your laptop is on.
Disabled Screen
You may have accidentally turned off your screen. On your keyboard, locate and press FN, and the corresponding function key for turning the screen on/off, at the same time to turn it back on.
Broken screen
Your screen may be physically broken and need replacing. This may be because your laptop was dropped or exposed to liquid or excessive moisture.
Keyboard Input Not Registering
The keys on your keyboard are not responding to your input and may be missing.
Faulty Keyboard
If your entire keyboard does not respond to input you should replace it.
Keys are Stuck
When you have difficulty pressing the keys, it's possible they being held down by something. To fix this, you will have to remove the key and make sure the area beneath it is clean.
Keys are Missing
If you have missing keys you will have to replace them.
Noticeably Slow Performance
Your laptop runs significantly slower and may occasionally freeze.
Insufficient system memory
Slow performance is often due to your operating system and/or other active programs using more RAM than currently available to your system. Solving this problem may include running fewer programs simultaneously and/or increasing the amount of RAM in your system.
