Laptop Won’t Power On
Your laptop doesn’t respond when pressing the power button.
Faulty Power Adapter
Your battery may not be receiving power from the adapter. Plug your adapter into a working outlet and check to see if the adapter light is on. If it isn’t, then your adapter is faulty and you will need to purchase a replacement.
Faulty Battery
If you’ve confirmed that your adapter works, connect it to your laptop. If the laptop only powers on when plugged in, then your laptop’s battery is faulty. Replace the battery using this guide.
Laptop is Running Slowly
Your laptop takes a long time to load files and programs.
Too Many Files or Programs
Your laptop may be running too many files or programs at once. Try closing any unnecessary files or programs that are currently open. To close a specific window, select the red “x” located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Insufficient RAM
If your laptop runs slowly while running necessary files or programs, then your laptop may not have enough RAM installed. Add or replace RAM using this guide.
Insufficient Hard Drive Space
If you receive error messages stating that your hard drive is running out of space, then your laptop may run slower. Try deleting any unnecessary files or programs. If you need to add more space, you will need to replace the hard drive with a drive that has more space. Replace the hard drive using this guide.
Faulty Hard Drive
If your hard drive makes scraping noises while running, then it may be experiencing mechanical failure. Replace the hard drive using this guide.
Insufficient Hard Drive Speed
If your hard drive is undamaged, then it may be running as fast as it can. You may need to replace the hard drive with a faster drive. Replace the hard drive using this guide.
Laptop Crashes Unexpectedly
Your laptop freezes and needs to be rebooted regularly.
Insufficient RAM
Your laptop may not have enough RAM installed to run certain files or programs without crashing. Add or replace RAM using this guide.
Faulty Hard Drive
If your hard drive makes scraping noises while running, it may be experiencing mechanical failure. Replace the hard drive using this guide.
Screen Image is Wrong or Blank
The image on your laptop’s screen is dark, distorted, discolored, blurry, or completely blank.
Screen Settings are Incorrect
The screen may be properly loading an image, but the current screen settings may make it difficult to see. For dark images, adjust the brightness or backlight by using the function keys on the keyboard. For distorted images, adjust the aspect ratio. In order to adjust the aspect ratio of your display, go into your computer’s settings and then select display settings to gain access to controls for the display. For discolored images, adjust color, hue, gamma, or tint (located in display settings). For blurry images, adjust the sharpness (located in display settings). For blank images, adjust the contrast (located in display settings).
Screen Is Not Receiving Power
Neither the backlight nor the display are appearing on. If this is the case, the display may not be receiving adequate power from the laptop. Try charging the laptop, it could be possible that your laptop is out of power. If your laptop is on but there is still no display, your display may be internally damaged and the main screen assembly needs to be replaced. To replace the main display, follow this guide.
Damaged Screen
If your laptop’s screen is visibly damaged (cracked, warped, etc.), it will affect your image. Replace the screen using this guide.
Faulty Screen
If your laptop’s screen is not visibly damaged, it may still be faulty. Replace the screen using this guide.
CD Drive Won't Read a Disk
Your laptop’s CD drive has a disk in it, but the laptop thinks it’s empty.
Faulty Disk
Check to see if your disk is cracked or has scratches on it. If it does, your disk may be too damaged for your CD drive’s lens to read it. Try using the same disk with another device. If it still fails to read, then your disk is faulty and a new copy must be created or purchased.
Faulty CD Drive
If your drive fails to read any disk, then your CD drive is faulty. Replace the CD drive using this guide.
CD Drive Won’t Open or Close
The CD drive tray will not open or close properly when pressing the drive’s eject button.
Faulty Eject Button
If your CD drive is closed, you will need to press the force eject button. Power your laptop down and obtain an unfolded paperclip. Locate the small pin hole next to the eject button and insert the end of the paperclip directly into it. If your CD drive opens, then your eject button is faulty. It is recommended that you replace the CD drive rather than continue to force the drive tray to open and close it. Replace the CD drive using this guide.
Faulty CD Drive
If a closed CD drive fails to open after pressing the force eject button, then your CD drive is faulty. Replace the CD drive using this guide.

Problem with booting up. Message pops up stating error with HD. Self repair will not fix it. I have a a "Universal Drive Adapter." It will not work with this HD. Need a new Adapter for these laptop HD.
