LCD Screen Damaged
- The display is cracked, or distorted, or shows no image despite the device being powered on. In this case, it’s likely that there is an internal display failure. Follow the step-by-step guide to replace the damaged display.
Motherboard Issue
- The device fails to power on, freezes, or displays random errors despite having charge. These causes could be due to internal circuit failure, liquid damage, or severe overheating. Simply perform a soft reset by holding the power button down for 20-30 seconds. If only partial function work, try updating the device software using Garmin Express.
- The motherboard houses the integrated GPS and Bluetooth receivers, rather than using separate plug-in modules. If you suspect the motherboard is faulty, use this guide to carefully inspect, troubleshoot, and replace it if necessary.
Battery Failure
- The device powers off quickly, does not hold a charge, or only works when plugged in. The first easiest way we can do is perform a soft reset by holding the power button for about 12-15 seconds. If that doesn't work, plug the device into a reliable power source using the Garmin vehicle power cable to charge the battery.
- However, if the device still doesn’t turn on, the internal battery may no longer hold a charge and will need to be replaced
Rear Case Misalignment
- Display lights up, but touch input is inaccurate or completely unresponsive could be due to a shift in internal components.
- When the screen won’t turn on, you can perform a soft reset by holding the power button for 10–15 seconds. Wait for the screen to go black (if it was frozen), then release the button. Press the power button again normally to restart the device. If the screen still does not respond and all other signs point to this issue, proceed with the repair guide for further troubleshooting.
Faulty Power Button
- If the device only responds when connected to external power, it may be due to a weak internal battery. Connect the device to a working charger to test this.
- If the device still does not respond, the power button flex cable may be torn, loose, or disconnected, preventing the signal. In this case, follow the repair guide to fix or replace the power button.
