The cartridge may be clogged. Take it out and clean off and try it, if the same then replace it. That's where I would start and I'm only guessing you haven't done that but of course I have no clue.

If a repair shop told you didn't have compression in a cylinder and needed an ECM they are either brain dead or blowing smoke up your ***! Compression in cylinders is mechanical issue only and ECM is electrical. "no compression" would mean total failure of piston and you have scrap metal for a motor and would have sounded like a wrench got jammed in your motor right before the abrupt halt to your journey! That being said it leaves the other two components to an engine running, which are gas and electrical. I have no idea how knowledgeable you are so I assume none just to be sure not to overlook the simple things. Process of elimination is the best way i know of for me. The printer head may be stuck and trying to return back to its start position. Check it for obstructions and see if you can tell if it is trying to move and causing the clicking and keeping printer from being able to do anything else until it is where it should be.

Unplug the battery to reset ecu then drive it to autozone or advance auto asap but make sure it does that before you get there and have them read the error codes. That will clear the codes from before and may give you the answer or at least narrow it down. The mass air flow sensor may be the problem. You can unplug it and if it stops doing that but idles funny that is the problem. I have had that happen before. Maybe this helps.

When you plug it in to computer have you went to the actual device through your computer and not through the pop up when you plug it in? You can access all the files on your phone like a regular USB flash drive.

Take it apart and put it all in ziplock bag overnight and it will soak up all the moisture.
