Hey Gabe! Owning my own repair business I feel the exact same way. When I do a job, I want it done right the first time and I don't want anything just "popping" up because the tape isn't holding. I too am not too happy with the 3M adhesive that comes with most of the replacement parts. I too like the adhesive that Apple uses and wish that I could get some myself! Unfortunately that is nearly impossible. I recommend heading to http://www.etechparts.com/Premium-Adhesive-Rolls-s/789.htm and use the premium rolls instead. This stuff does hold better than the 3M tape, but have yet to pull apart a device that has been put back together with this tape. I'm hoping that all is going well for you in your repair business!

I would avoid buying digitizers on eBay, as I'm sure most of them aren't run through a quality control check. I bought one on eBay a year ago for my iPad and about 2-3 months later dead spots started occurring on the digitizer. When I received it, I thought it felt kinda flimsy compared to the original digitizer. I recommend buying from a quality provider like etechparts.com as they have weeded out the Chinese companies that provide garbage products. I just recommend spending a little extra money and get the iBic digitizer. All parts from etechparts come with a 90 day warranty.

I have the same issue with my iPad. I even replaced the Digitizer bezel and taped it down with the 3M adhesive tape. On the same side the iPad the adhesive has let go holding the bezel down and in another area the adhesive has let so of the digitizer. I'm thinking that it's a cheap tape because there is no glass shards. So I just purchased some new premium tape and I'll be fixing the iPad again with the new tape. I agree with Kerri. What I would do first though is always wear some latex or vinyl gloves, as any oils from your fingers on gold contacts can affect the signal quality. Gloves should be worn ANYTIME a mobile device is opened up. I would say to power the device down, but seeing how you can't, then you'll just need to disconnect the battery after lifting the digitizer. After lifting up the digitizer, carefully flip up the FPC digitizer tabs to avoid breaking them off and remove the cables. Use some alcohol prep pads to wipe down the gold contacts just incase you may have touched them with you bare hands when putting the digitizer in place before. Let it air dry before inserting them back in the connectors. Insert cables all the way in and flip down on the tabs. Plug the battery back in and place the digitizer back in place, then power on. I hope this works for you or anybody else having this problem. :)

Well Nikki, looking at the logic board there, it looks as if the board is beyond repair. It looks like the soldering gun or whatever you used did quit a bit of damage. Once the traces are messed up, then there's no hope of repair from what I've seen. I hope that I can been proved wrong on this by someone with some bada** soldering skills. I'm actually in the same boat with the digitizer connector tab being broken off and having to desolder and solder a new connector on. I'm really apprehensive about doing this though as I really don't have a whole lot of experience with soldering such SMALL parts and with the traces so close together.
