Took me some time to figure this out and the answer lay with Scores suggestion that there are multiple LCDs for the 8520. Before you purchase a new LCD for your phone disassemble down to the lcd and check the model number on the back of it. There may be a 2mm lining of black tape on the top and bottom so using a case opening tool peel back this tape to reveal the last few digits. The magic number for me for repairs of this model of phone is 113/114 If you have the wrong part you may get; A white screen or Fuzzy colours on screen with a faint border of the apps.
I occasionally see this problem with screen repairs. In the 40-50 screen replacements ive done on the iphone in the last couple of wks it is done to a dodgy screen. It is possible to be sent a broken one even tho apparently fully working. You need to test the old screen on it to ensure you havent damaged the motherboard. If the old screen still works its the new screen replacement. Just send it back.
I have an iphone 4s belonging to a friend whos speaker appears to be faulty.
When making calls the recipient sounds extremely muffled to the point of being inaudible.
As a technician I have never encountered an issue before whereby replacing the speaker didnt work.
The main test i performed was to take out the motherboard and place it into the chassis of a perfectly working iphone 4s and yet the problem still persisted.
Reason for the above is because it negates the need to individually test the dock connector and other various minor parts.
My question is where on the motherboard where this problem maybe occuring?
Is it the 2 copper plates that connect the speaker part to the m/b.
