There is no permanent fix for this problem. I would contact Amazon or whoever you purchased it from and ask for an exchange or refund. There are thousands of people experiencing the same problem with this device.
No this doesn’t sound possible, unless it was somehow cloned many years ago. The serial and IMEI number are programmed into the CPU of the motherboard. A housing and screen swap can have no influence on the serial number or IMEI number.
I had this problem and a new screen didn’t fix it. I was told by a repair shop that it had touch disease and to permanently fix the problem it would require micro soldering.
