The spring which may be holding the slot in place is probably no longer in the correct spot, possibly due to a drop. This happened on my old Samsung tablet, if you really want to, you can just take it out, but you would have a hard time with it still. So I would at least try putting it back in the right spot. It also could be the spring, it could be messed up. If it still persists, I would just get a new spring.
