Having used ThinkPads and Android phones for years, I've recently found a love of all things Apple, who would've guessed that'd happen? I'm currently working at Experimac in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, repairing all sorts of Apple products!
If you have any Apple related questions, feel free to mention me @jonaharagon in the answers forum and I can take a look!

Rispondi a: My computer has 5ghz capabilities but won't recognize 5ghz networks.According to the product listing for the ASUS E403SA, your laptop actually doesn’t appear to support 5 GHz WiFi, under “networking”: "Dual-band 802.11 b/g/n" 5 GHz uses 802.11 ac. Can you confirm the model number and perhaps the model of the wifi card installed, just to double check? The “e403s” you mentioned in your post doesn’t actually exist, so I assumed “E403SA” as the closest.
Rispondi a: I replaced my phone battery, but now the screen is unresponsive. Help!Check all the ribbon cables and ensure none of them are ripped or damaged, they’re very fragile. Then check all the connectors themselves for any bending or damage. When you connect the screen connectors, be sure to press in first on one side, then the other. Don’t press in the middle or they can bend. They should click in on both sides. Then restart your phone, try a hard reset by holding the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds or so, that can occasionally clear up issues. Unfortunately if none of that works, you might’ve really screwed up the screen somehow, the only fix is probably going to be a replacement.
Rispondi a: What soft wear is on this iPhone 6?Wow! @toreskey is close that it’s a custom OS, but it certainly is Apple developed. What you have is what’s called a “dev-fused” iPhone, a kind of prototype used by Apple to develop the hardware and software on the iPhones. Essentially, they’re pre-jailbroken iPhones, pretty cool! Here’s an interesting article about their use in the security research industry: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/artic...-prototype-dev-fused-iphones-that-hackers-use-to-research-apple-zero-days Maybe new it could’ve been sold for a couple thousand, but the iPhone 6 is pretty old nowadays, so I’m not sure what the market is anymore. You could probably still get a couple hundred bucks from some security researcher for it. iPhone Wiki has some technical details https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/Facto...
Rispondi a: Why is my MacBook Pro 2013 late 15" randomly turning offMacs typically the log the reason for random shutdowns, especially hardware related ones, you can try following this guide to see if it gives any more insight: How to determine Mac shutdown causes
Rispondi a: What type of SSD does a dell inspiron 7460 has PCIE, Sata or NVME?There shouldn’t be a capacity limitation. You can replace the hard drive with any 2.5” SATA SSD or install any M.2 2280 SATA (not NVMe!) SSD.
Rispondi a: LCD replacement for MacBook ProMacBook Pro 13" Retina (Early 2015) Display Assembly You might also be able to find cheaper parts from somewhere like Pro Tech Restore (who I love getting parts from), or if you want to brave it, eBay.
Rispondi a: Replacement battery randomly dies at 40%Occasionally batteries can just be defective, might just be part of a bad batch! I would get in touch with iFixit support and arrange a warranty replacement, should solve your problems.
Rispondi a: Upgrading to Blade SSD and I7 CPUIt is possible to upgrade the CPU to a 4790K, review this iFixit guide for some more information: iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display CPU Replacement Just don’t expect any support from Apple in the future if you change the CPU out! I assume your warranty has ended anyways, but just something to keep in mind. It is not possible to use a Samsung 970 Evo SSD however. Apple uses a proprietary connector on their SSDs, not m.2, so the drives are not compatible. You’ll want a “Generation 3” Apple SSD, according to this handy guide to Apple’s proprietary SSDs: https://beetstech.com/blog/apple-proprietary-ssd-ultimate-guide-to-specs-and-upgrades#hdr-12 If you get a compatible SSD, then you will be able to upgrade it with the following guide: iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display Blade SSD Replacement
Rispondi a: Can anyone provide a link for us to download ASD 156 and newerI think that sharing that kind of information would be very wrong, it’s Apple’s special software after all. I would certainly never recommend you go to some torrent search site like tparser.me and search for “Apple Service Diagnostics”, otherwise you might somehow end up with 40.9 gigabytes of stuff you shouldn’t have! Keep in mind they switched to AST2 (which requires a cloud login) in 2014-15, so you won’t be able to find anything newer than that, ASD wise.
Rispondi a: 2011 MacBook Pro screen shows pink static after dropI'm not sure how you haven't found anything online, the 2011 MacBook Pros notoriously have GPU issues. The only real fix is to replace the chip. I’ll bet the issues will return even after rebaking the board, unfortunately. Software wise, you could also disable the AMD GPU and only use Intel integrated graphics, which may be the best no-cost fix for your machine. Check out this StackExchange post for a lot more info on the problem, including how to disable the AMD GPU, which I’d recommend trying if the issue returns: https://apple.stackexchange.com/question...-problem-boot-hangs-on-grey-screen/295805#295805 At least it may prolong the inevitable.
