The limit is placed on the drive hardware itself, not on the partitions. Nothing will be gained by partitioning. The computer cannot partition the drive and cannot see the partitions beyond the first 128GiB / 137GB of the drive if it is partitioned on another computer before installing it in this one. The only way around the limit is by using a third-party HDD driver, such as the one from Intech Software. http://www.speedtools2.com/ATA6.html By the way, Mac OS can be installed on the drive no matter the partitions. You just cannot use more than 128GiB / 137GB of the drive.
