this job was a pain for me although, I finally got it. Since I drained the coolant, I also replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat and reinforced the upper radiator neck. For better access, it helps to remove the turbo duct and the short air filter tube. I also had to tap on the thermostat housing to free it from the head….it was hard to see the seam between the two but after some scraping and cleaning it was obvious.
after replacing this ground cable my tach started working again! I can’t say enough about cleaning grounds and contacts/connections in general. A cheap and easy way to solve some common electrical issues
great guide but I was not careful and when I removed the nut on the bottom (gently with pliers) I was not holding on to the right part and dropped the inside unit breaking the copper colored wire. I was able to solder it back and got the unit back in the tank….so far, it seems the gauge is working…no jumping and appears to be going down as I drive. BE VERY CAREFUL with the unit, those wires are so thin and delicate. thanks for your site and all the advice!
